The traditional spiritual practices of Lent are prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. St. Augustine once wrote, “Do you want your prayer to fly to God? Then give it two wings: fasting and almsgiving.” Sin ruptures three relationships: our relationship with God, within ourselves, and with each other. The three disciplines of Lent work to restore these three broken relationships. Prayer strengthens our relationship with God. Fasting heals the rupture within ourselves by strengthening our self-mastery (sin disordered our desires). Almsgiving strengthens our relationship with our neighbor by helping them in charity. -Fr. Matt

18-59-year old are obligated to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Fasting consists of only one full meal for the day; two smaller meals may be consumed as well, but together they should not equal a full meal.
Abstaining from Meat
Those 14 years old and older are obligated to refrain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays in Lent.
Adoration is available each Tuesday from 7:45 am to 9 pm in the Church. Come and spend some time with Jesus this Lenten season! If you have never committed to a Holy Hour, now is a great time to start.
We will also be holding Adoration on Holy Thursday, April 6th from 8 - 11 pm. Come and join Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Challenge yourself this Lenten season to attend Daily Mass. Daily Mass is offered weekly at Sacred Heart and a variety of times in our Mission Parishes throughout the Lenten Season
