Dear Sacred Heart Families,
Over the years, an ongoing conversation regarding the dress code has taken place between the School Advisory Council (SAC), the Sacred Heart Leadership Team, and families. The conversation has focused mainly on whether the implementation of school uniforms or standardized dress is needed. Some say that standardized dress limits a student’s self-expression while others believe it promotes a positive school culture, centered on faith and academics, where all students can be safe and successful.
After much discussion and considering results from recent and stakeholder surveys through the years, the SAC and Sacred Heart Leadership, with the help of the Student Council, has made the decision to implement standardize dress for our weekly Mass days. Dressing for Mass is important for two reasons. First, standardize dress conveys both reverence and honor. We are saying to God, “You are worth the effort; you deserve our best.” Secondly, this intentional dress communicates our acknowledgement that we are taking part in something extraordinary, the Mass. Plus, we think it will help eliminate a burden of back-to-school shopping for parents in finding outfits that align with our dress code policies.
Sacred Heart School will provide each K-12th grade student one (1) standardize dress shirt for Mass days. The shirts will be made with synthetic material and will be embroidered with the Sacred Heart School logo. Elementary grade (K-6) student shirts will be purple, and the high school (7-12) student shirts will be black. Shirts sizes will be available in both male and female cuts. If families would like to purchase additional standardize dress shirts, an opportunity to do so will be available at our back-to-school night.
For us to have your child’s shirt on hand for the first day of school, please take a moment to fill out the shirt size form linked below. If you have multiple children attending Sacred Heart School, you will need to complete the form multiple times.
