Weather Cancellations
We recognize storm cancellations may put undue stress on many of you regarding childcare. Traditionally, due to the busing partnership with East Grand Public School for our Minnesota residents, we have usually followed the same plan regarding storm delays and cancellations. Sacred Heart has decided that, moving forward, we may not always follow East Grand Forks District #595’s decision regarding storm cancellations. For example, in a two-hour late scenario, we may choose to have school starting at 10:15am, even if East Grand Forks District #595 closes for the day. We have a much higher percentage of families who live within the city limits of East Grand Forks and Grand Forks resulting in possible safe travel, but we ask that you make your own parental decision regarding travel to school based on your situation. Please look for text alerts and/or emails from the school regarding late starts and school closures. If you do not have an email or cell phone registered for alerts, please contact Dana Yanish at [email protected]
We want to ensure that all students are accounted for at all times. Education is a very important part of our students lives and being punctual is essential. Students should arrive at school by 8:05am so they have time to settle in and get to their classroom by the 8:15am bell.
Pick-up and Drop-off Guidelines
Preschool-6th Grade: For absences, late arrivals, or early departure, please contact the student’s teacher by email using their @sacredheartegf.net account and elementary administrative assistant, Mrs. Carrie Shea at [email protected] or call the elementary office at 218-773-1579.
Drop-off for late arrivals and pick-up for early departures during the school day at door #4. The main school doors are locked at 8:15AM. Parents/guardians should park and ring-in at door #4. We will meet you in the entryway and escort your child into the school/bring your child to meet you in the entryway.
7-12th Grade: For a high school student absence, late arrival, or early departure, please contact high school administrative assistant, Mrs. Dana Yanish at [email protected] or call the high school office at 218-773- 0230. Students should immediately report to the high school office to sign-in upon arrival. Students leaving school early must obtain an Early Dismissal Pass from the office prior to being dismissed from class/school. Drop off for late arrivals and pick up for early departures during the school day will be at door #2.
Illness Protocols for Returning to School: If a student has a fever of 100 degrees or higher or a stomach virus, he or she needs to be symptom free and have a temperature below 100 degrees without the use of fever-reducing medication for 24 hours before they may return to school.

The physician has indicated the substitutions or modifications that the participant needs. The “Special Diet Statement” from the physician must be kept on file at the school. It is the responsibility of the parent to provide the school with a copy of this physician statement.

Faith & Family Night
Families today are busier than ever. As a Catholic school, Sacred Heart has the obligation to support the family - the domestic church. The Catholic Church teaches that the family is the basic unit of society. St. Pope John Paul II said, "as the family goes, so goes the nation and so goes the whole world in which we live." St. Mother Teresa said, "If you want to change the world, go home and love your family."
To honor the importance of family life, Sacred Heart stops all activities at 5:30pm on Wednesday nights to allow families to be together. This time is known at Sacred Heart as Faith, Family, Fun Night.
For Faith, Family, Fun Night there will be a movie of the month, a prayer focusing on the virtue of the week and an activity for families. Families are encouraged, but not required, to join the activities. Prayers and other suggestions are posted weekly on our >> Sacred Heart Facebook page.
